A BRIEF SUMMARY

I have been involved with research and teaching from a long time ago. In 2008 I received the PhD in Computer Science from the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia and I got the Best PhD Award in the same year for my research on dynamic clustering of web search results using Formal Concept Analysis (FCA). You can view the video at the bottom (sorry, it is only in Spanish) just to have an idea about some of the final results of this work.

My research interests include multilingual and multimedia information access, retrieval and clustering, visualization and user interaction. Lately, social network analysis and social information mining have become a new research goal.

Currently I am also collaborating with LTCS group at UNED. This group is more focused on e-learning. The main goal of the collaboration is to find ways to organize, retrieve and navigate learning objects based on NLP and statistical IR approaches instead of exploiting ontology based techniques. These last techniques are commonly used in this area. We are also focused on enriching didactic resources using the web as a big didactic and social repository.
